A damask medallion blooms at the center of a smoke-darkened cloth — concentric scrollwork around a rosette core, flanked by C-scroll stems that arc outward like handles. Ember-red bouquets flare at the corners against a soot-black, olive-hazed ground, the print abraded and bleached where a century of sun and smoke has worn it. Sumptuous and haunted. It anchors a dining room wall or a dark-painted hallway. *(65 words)*

The ogee damask — a mirrored lattice of scrolling stems closing around a central medallion, crowned with pomegranate and pineapple finials — was the standard luxury vocabulary of European silk weaving from the fifteenth century onward. Genoa and Valencia built entire economies on it, and the cloth lined church walls, throne canopies, and the sitting rooms of merchant houses from Seville to Venice. The pattern outlived its looms. In early twentieth-century Venice, Mariano Fortuny revived it by hand-stamping antique motifs onto velvet rather than weaving them, and Victorian wallpaper makers scaled the same repeat across whole drawing rooms in dark grounds. This print carries that lineage forward — the ornament as it survives, worn and sun-bleached, rather than as it left the loom. *(126 words)*

Printed on museum-grade archival paper with a matte finish that holds the soot-black ground without flattening the ember reds. Pair with a distressed dark walnut or wrought iron frame and a cream mat. Designed to live alongside Spanish Baroque and devotional prints. Part of the Atrecho Art Textiles Collection — gallery wall ready. *(52 words)*

Our Story

Atrecho Art began with an obsession: the art that lines the walls of old European estates — the devotional portraits found in the side chapels of Seville’s cathedral. We are a family-owned small business bringing that spirit home, one print at a time. Thank you for supporting independent art.
