A glass pitcher of sangria glows garnet and amber against deep shadow, whole orange and lemon wheels floating in the wine where a single raking light catches its sunlit belly. Ripe oranges and blue-black grapes tumble across a marble ledge draped in loose ivory linen. Warm, opulent, and quietly hushed, it turns a Spanish summer drink into something almost devotional. Anchors a dining room, a bar cart, or a moody kitchen wall. *(70 words)*

There is a reason wine, glass, and fruit fill the Spanish bodegón: heavy and translucent against darkness, they seem lit from within. Diego Velázquez and Francisco de Zurbarán, working in Seville in the early 1600s, set humble kitchen objects against black grounds and lit them like scripture — inventing the moody still life long before it became fashionable. The luminous backlit vessel recalls the Dutch pronkstilleven and Willem Kalf's glowing glassware. Sangría itself — red wine steeped with citrus and fruit — belongs to that same Mediterranean table, a drink of gathered abundance poured across Spanish summers. This print draws from that tradition: wine, oranges, and grapes rendered with the reverent chiaroscuro of the old bodegón painters. *(118 words)*

A Spanish bodegón still life printed on museum-grade archival paper with a rich matte finish that holds the deep shadow and the jewel-like glow of the wine. Pair with an aged gold or dark walnut frame and a warm cream mat for a wall that carries a sense of enduring history. Part of the Atrecho Art Still Life Collection — gallery wall ready. *(58 words)*

Our Story

Atrecho Art began with an obsession: the art that lines the walls of old European estates — the devotional portraits found in the side chapels of Seville’s cathedral. We are a family-owned small business bringing that spirit home, one print at a time. Thank you for supporting independent art.
