Scrubby weeds gather at its feet. Drawn in fine ink line over pale wash on toned paper, the mood is contemplative and elegiac — a restful, neutral piece for an entryway, powder room, or quiet bedroom wall. *(69 words)*

The wall fountain — the *fuente de pared* — was a fixture of the 17th-century Spanish and Italian courtyard, set into the cloister walls of convents and the shaded patios of Andalusian houses, where falling water cooled the air and marked the hours. The vocabulary here is fully Baroque: a broken scrolled pediment, a crowning finial urn, flanking pilasters, and a shell cartouche above the spout. The drawing idiom belongs to a later century — the frontal elevation, the ruled guidelines left un-erased, the pale wash over ink recall the measured sketchbooks of Grand Tour draftsmen and the ruin studies of Giovanni Battista Piranesi, who found grandeur in stonework overtaken by weeds.
